Welcome to Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

The Year Three team includes Miss Watkins (3FW) Mrs Hampton – Joyce and Mrs Austin (3MHJ/RA) who are the class teachers. We will also be taught by Mrs Van Spelde and Mrs Rosell-Hughes on a Wednesday. We also have Mrs Hollingworth as our year group Teaching Assistant and Mrs Brickhill and Mrs Laiker as our Learning Support Assistants.

Autumn term – ‘Growth’:

Our Autumn term theme is ‘Growth’ and is inspired by a range of engaging texts from our bookshelf including ‘The Extraordinary Gardener’, where we learn that nature really can help a community. ‘James and the Giant Peach’ where we will follow the journey of James and his friends as they encounter many adventures and learn about their own personal growth. ‘The Street Beneath Our Feet’ where we ask ‘what is really under the ground we walk on’? and many more inspirational texts. We will explore this theme across a range of subjects and understand it at a deeper level through all areas of the curriculum.

Important information for Year 3:

This year, we will have outdoor PE on Thursday and Indoor PE on Tuesday afternoon, but the children will need to keep their PE bag in school every day so that we can use it at any time.

  • This year we will visit the school library one afternoon during the week so please remember to have your library book in your school bag. Please also remember to have your Reading Record in your bag each day.
  • Home Learning will be sent home on a Wednesday, due for the following Monday. Spellings will be sent home at the start of the term and are tested in groups of 5 each Wednesday, so please ensure your Spelling book is in your bag for this.
  • We would encourage pupils to read every day to develop their love for reading and practise their 3, 4 and 8 Times Tables at home to ensure they have a secure understanding and recall of these facts to support their learning in school. You can practise using TT RockStars.
