Welcome to Year 1

Welcome to Year 1 and the Summer Term

Our teaching team includes Miss Hopkins and Mrs Stevens (Class Teachers) and Miss Tetley (Teaching Assistant).  This term we have Miss Moston working with us as an Associate Teacher.

Summer Term: Curiosity

Our Summer Term theme is ‘Curiosity’. We will be discussing what curiosity means and how it sparks our imaginations. We will use our curiosity to learn about the world around us, as well as discovering different worlds through exploring our bookshelf texts, asking questions and being creative. Our Summer Bookshelf is full of high-quality texts that share the theme of curiosity through the way the characters think, act and dream. We will use these stories to find out about our theme and challenge ourselves to be more curious, think big and dream bigger!

Our bookshelf includes:
Beegu by Alexis Deacon
The Extraordinary Gardener by Sam Broughton
The Darkest Dark by Chris Hadfield
Little Red Reading Hood by Lucy Rowland
Grandad’s Camper by Harry Woodgate
Hotel Flamingo by Alex Milway (our class novel)
