Welcome to Year 4
Welcome to Year 4
Our teaching team includes Miss Ashworth, Miss Forsythe, Miss Hooker (Class Teachers) and Mrs Hollingworth (Teaching Assistant). We will also be utilising the expertise of Mr Steer (Laurus Trust Colleague) for basketball sessions each week.
Our Autumn Term theme is ‘Great Britain’, inspired by a range of exciting books which make up our class bookshelves. We will be using ‘A Bear Called Paddington’, ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ and ‘The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe’ to inspire much of our English writing. We will be looking at ‘Pop-up London’ and ‘A Walk in London’ to discuss the changes in Great Britain over time, specifically looking at the Tudor period which is our history topic for this term. We will also be looking at the changes to our environment and how we can help preserve it through the poetry book ‘Be the Change’. In RE we will continue to develop our knowledge on the teachings and beliefs of a range of different religions and look at how this is represented in society across Great Britain.
Important information for Year 4:
• We are timetabled to have PE every Tuesday and Wednesday, but please have both your indoor and outdoor PE kit in school every day, as plans may change!
• This year we will visit the school library one afternoon during the week (usually on Fridays), so please remember to have your library book in your school bag so that it can be changed. Please also remember to have your Reading Record in your bag each day for our Guided Reading sessions.
• Home Learning is sent home on a Wednesday, due for the following Monday. Spellings are sent home at the start of the term and will be tested in groups of 5 each Wednesday, so please also ensure that your Spelling book is in your bag for this.
