Starting School

We understand that starting school is a significant moment for you and your family. We will do everything we can to ensure your child gets off to a flying start with us.

We take our responsibility for your child’s personal and academic development seriously. We value strong home-school links and recognise the positive difference they make to a child’s happiness and success.

Before September, we will be holding a number of induction events for you and your child. Until then, we hope you find the information provided on our website useful and encourage you to have a look at our Twitter account to get a flavour of life at Gorsey Bank.

Gorsey Bank converted to academy status and became a proud member of the Laurus Trust in October 2016 .

The Laurus Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust with Cheadle Hulme High School, the founder school, at its centre. The Laurus Trust has recently opened four new schools – Cheadle Hulme Primary SchoolLaurus Cheadle HulmeLaurus Ryecroft and Didsbury High SchoolHazel Grove High School joined the Trust in September 2019. The Laurus Trust Vision

“For everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, to be inspired, to thrive in all environments,
to recognise what it takes to succeed, to set aspirational goals and to work hard to achieve them.”

As well as being unashamedly academic, Laurus schools focus on developing each pupil’s self-confidence and voice skills. We inspire our pupils to broaden their horizons and to believe that ‘anything is possible’ because we understand that this is the key to post-education success.

In Laurus Trust primary schools we have identified four Curriculum Drivers – elements that are integral to our school ethos of ‘learning for life’ and they will further enhance the exciting and engaging learning opportunities that our pupils enjoy every day.

These drivers are:

Collaboration – to learn from each other, to support one another and to be successful together.

Possibilities – to challenge ourselves and each other and to push boundaries.

Respect – to understand ourselves, to appreciate each other and to value diversity.

Technology – to learn, communicate and create.
