Welcome to Year 2

Welcome to Year 2

Summer Term – ‘Hope’

This summer term in Y2, we are exploring the theme of HOPE, both as a personal feeling that supports us, especially in difficult times, and as our shared hopes for the world we want to live in.

Starting with a modern twist on the familiar tale ‘Little Red’, we will be looking at how this bold and clever girl take matters into her own hands to reach a happy ending – no waiting for someone to rescue them!

Through our History work we will be finding out what it was like to be a child in Victorian times. We will investigate what it meant to be rich and poor and how their rights for an education and a healthy life were limited, and, understand how change may come about through the hope of a better life. We are hoping that the sun will shine so that we can take our learning outside as much as possible, learning about plants in Science plus lots of other opportunities from DT to Geography.

Our Summer Bookshelf: –

  • Up and Down by Oliver Jeffers
  • Little Red by Bethan Woollvin
  • The Barnabus Project by The Fan Brothers
  • The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson
